Information for Non-Lawyer Legal ProfessionalsThank you for showing an interest in providing pro bono assistance. Pro Bono Law of BC engages all areas of the legal profession to advance access to justice and to increase the capacity of the private bar to engage in organized pro bono programming. As a non-lawyer legal professional, you possess the knowledge and skills to help individuals and organizations overcome their legal problems.Whether you wish to work in conjunction with a lawyer or law firm, or you wish to provide stand-alone services, we have pro bono opportunities for you. For examples, individuals may require a notary to prepare a Power of Attorney, a mediator to mediate a family or civil dispute, or a law student to research case law concerning a small claims matter. You may also provide assistance in relation to one of our Roster Program. We therefore encourage you to register and outline the type and scope of pro bono opportunities that interest you most. We also provide news and resources specific to Non-Lawyer Legal Professionals. If you work in an area of poverty law, you qualify to take our Online Poverty Law Training Course. If you are an advocate or a member of a community organization, you may be interested in downloading our Community Partnership Manual to consider how your organization may develop a partnership with a law firm. |
